M. G. Mayer Yacht Services, Inc. (Mayer Yacht or MYS) is a full service boat yard established in 1985. It is also a major facility for local, transient and international yacht repair and service. After Hurricane Katrina destroyed Mayer Yacht’s offices and shop in August 2005, Mayer Yacht reopened in October 2005. The facility includes a sling hoist with a capacity of 75,000 pounds and a 50’ x 100’ paint shed with a cradle and rail system for transferring boats on the hard. The yard and slips include enough room for approximately ten to fifteen in-water boats and ten or so on the hard. The 50’ x 100’ foot paint shed can handle any interior/exterior, full or partial paint project including faux finishes, design and refinishing. Its service department handles onsite shaft and propeller work as well as structural woodwork, fiberglass, varnish, gas, diesel, outboard, electrical, electronic and canvas. The mechanical service department also works on Yamaha outboards, Yanmar diesels and Fisher-Panda, Mase and Kilo-Pac generators.
